A 35-year-old man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of 46-year-old care worker Irene Mbugua, found dead with severe head and facial injuries at a Birmingham home on June 23, 2025. The incident occurred at the residence of David Walsh, who was providing care to him at the time. Walsh, arrested and charged with murder and assaulting police, denied murder but admitted to manslaughter and four counts of assaulting emergency workers at Warwick Crown Court on February 24, 2026.
