A man accused in an ISIS case says two men posing as Indian Army officers offered to drop his charges if he joined a covert operation.
Areeb Majeed, an accused in an ISIS-linked case, told a special NIA court on February 21, 2026, that two individuals claiming to be Indian Army officers offered to drop his trial in exchange for joining a covert operation.
Majeed, who was granted bail in 2021 and faces charges for allegedly traveling to Syria to join ISIS, said he refused and reported the incident via the 112 emergency helpline.
The two individuals were taken to the Bazar Peth police station.
The Special NIA Court, presided by Judge Chakor Baviskar, called the allegations serious, involving impersonation and potential interference with justice, and has directed the NIA and police to submit responses.
