LAPD seeks two suspects in a Southern California ATM scam targeting seniors, involving a distraction and card swap on Jan. 15.
The LAPD is seeking two suspects in a coordinated ATM scam targeting elderly residents in Southern California, where one individual distracts victims by dropping a $20 bill and tapping their shoulder, allowing a partner to swap their real card with a counterfeit one while they bend down.
The scam, which occurred on January 15 at a Colorado Boulevard ATM, led to unauthorized withdrawals from the victim’s account later that day at a North San Fernando Boulevard bank.
Authorities have released photos of the suspects—a bearded man in a baseball cap and a woman in a white jacket—and are urging the public to contact them with any information.
