India reconstitutes panel to probe corruption allegations against Allahabad High Court judge following cash found burned at his home.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla reconstituted a three-member committee on March 6, 2026, to investigate corruption allegations against Allahabad High Court Judge Yashwant Varma, replacing Madras High Court Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava with Bombay High Court Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar due to Shrivastava’s retirement.
The panel, established after a multi-party impeachment notice was accepted in August 2025, includes Supreme Court Justice Aravind Kumar and advocate B.V. Acharya.
The inquiry, prompted by the discovery of burnt cash at Varma’s Delhi residence in March 2025, continues under constitutional procedures for judicial removal.
