India hires 5,000+ ex-servicemen as railway contract workers to aid civilian transition.

Indian Railways will hire over 5,000 ex-servicemen as contract Pointsmen across nine railway divisions in partnership with the Indian Army to ease their transition to civilian life. The initiative supports existing reservations—20% in Level-1 posts and 10% in Level-2 and above—for ex-servicemen and additional quotas for ex-Agniveers. Recruitment is underway through Railway Recruitment Centres and Boards, building on prior efforts that reserved 14,788 posts for veterans in 2024 and 2025.
