French energy firm Engie has agreed to acquire UK Power Networks for £10.5 billion, aiming to expand its electricity distribution and renewable energy operations in the UK, which will become Engie’s second-largest market after France.
The deal, pending regulatory approval, is expected to close in mid-2026 and will be funded through debt, new shares, and asset sales.
UK Power Networks serves 8.5 million customers across London and parts of southeast and eastern England, managing 192,000 kilometers of power lines.
