The Washington Capitals have placed forward Sonny Milano on waivers, clearing a roster spot for Connor McMichael’s return from injured reserve.
Milano, 29, has four goals and eight points in 31 games this season and is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer after a $1.9 million cap hit.
If unclaimed within 24 hours, he will be assigned to the AHL’s Hershey Bears.
McMichael, 25, returns after missing time with an upper-body injury, having recorded eight goals and 31 points in 55 games this season, building on a career-high 57 points last year.
