A Bangladeshi court ordered Interpol to issue a red notice for British MP Tulip Siddiq over corruption charges linked to a Dhaka real estate project.
A Bangladesh court has ordered authorities to request Interpol issue a red notice for the arrest of British MP Tulip Siddiq over corruption charges tied to a real estate project in Dhaka’s Gulshan area.
The order follows a petition by Bangladesh’s Anti-corruption Commission, which alleges Siddiq used her family connections to influence land allocation.
Siddiq, daughter of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s sister, has denied the allegations, calling the verdicts politically motivated and a “complete farce.” She previously served as a UK minister but resigned in January 2024 amid controversy over her ties to Hasina, who was ousted in a 2024 student-led uprising and has been in exile in India since August.
Siddiq has been sentenced to six years in prison in three prior corruption cases linked to her aunt.
The court’s decision marks a significant escalation in the legal actions against her, though there was no immediate response from Siddiq.
