A 30-year-old Idaho man died rafting on the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park after being ejected at a dangerous rapid.
A 30-year-old man from Post Falls, Idaho, Aaron Benjamin, died during a commercial rafting trip on the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park on February 19.
He was ejected from his raft at Hance Rapid, a Class 8 section known for extreme difficulty, and pulled from the water unconscious.
Despite CPR by his group and resuscitation attempts by park rangers airlifted to the scene, he could not be revived.
The National Park Service and Coconino County Medical Examiner are investigating the incident, which has raised safety concerns on high-risk river sections.
