The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched a deadly attack on Misteriya in North Darfur on February 24, 2026, killing at least 28 civilians and injuring 39, including 10 women, according to the Sudan Doctors Network. The assault, which included drone strikes and a ground offensive, targeted the home of tribal leader Musa Hilal, destroyed the town’s only health center, and led to the detention of medical staff. The RSF, which shares Hilal’s Rizeigat Arab tribe, has intensified its campaign in Darfur, following its capture of el-Fasher in October 2025. The UN Security Council condemned the violence and drone attacks on civilians and aid workers and called for accountability, a ceasefire, and humanitarian access amid worsening famine and displacement.
