Puri's Shree Jagannath Temple begins inventory of its sacred treasury, following court order and government approval.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration has launched a long-awaited inventory of the Ratna Bhandar, the temple’s sacred treasury in Puri, following Odisha government approval and a high court directive to complete the process within three months.
Two committees—the supervisory and handling teams—will conduct a phased, secure count and documentation of valuables, including gold, silver, and diamonds, using photography, CCTV, and digital cataloging.
No valuation will be performed, and all participants must sign confidentiality agreements.
The work, set to begin before the Niladri Bije ritual, will cross-verify records from 1978, 1885, and 1982, with a final list to be submitted to the temple managing committee and state government.
Only the government can release the results.
