India's smartphone exports reached $30 billion in 2025, making electronics the country’s third-largest export category and smartphones its top export. Production surged from ₹1.9 lakh crore in 2014-15 to ₹11.3 lakh crore in 2024-25, with mobile phone exports rising from nearly zero to ₹2 lakh crore. The nation now ranks second globally in smartphone manufacturing, with 300 production units and 99.2% of domestic sales being 'Made in India'. The government’s PLI scheme attracted ₹13,475 crore in investment, driving job creation and boosting MSMEs and women’s participation. Efforts are expanding to build domestic capabilities in components and raw materials.
