Indian man petitions Pakistani court to void his wife’s marriage to a Pakistani man, alleging forced conversion and improper rites.
In February 2026, Indian national Karnal Singh filed a petition in Pakistan’s Lahore High Court seeking to annul his wife Sarabjeet Kaur’s marriage to Pakistani citizen Nasir Hussain, alleging she converted to Islam without first obtaining a legal divorce in India and that the marriage violated Islamic legal procedures.
The petition claims forced conversion, financial coercion, and improper marriage rites, and requests criminal charges, deportation, and placement in a women’s shelter.
Kaur, who traveled to Pakistan in November 2024 for a religious pilgrimage, later married Hussain and reportedly left a shelter to return to him despite prior expressions of wanting to return to India.
The case remains under judicial review.
