Idaho deputies honored for rescuing firefighters and civilians during a deadly 2025 wildfire ambush.
Three Kootenai County deputies—Harvey Ballman, Arek Brock, and Josh Orr—will receive Idaho’s highest law enforcement honors for their actions during a June 29, 2025, ambush on Canfield Mountain, where a man deliberately set a wildfire to lure and attack firefighters, killing two and injuring one.
Responding under extreme danger, the deputies rescued an injured firefighter, a trapped firefighter, and five civilians while recovering the bodies of the slain firefighters.
Their bravery and composure during the crisis earned them both the Attorney General’s Medal of Honor and the Sheriff’s Office Medal of Honor.
