The Duchess of Edinburgh arrived in Kenya for a two-day visit focused on advancing women’s roles in peacebuilding, security, and economic growth ahead of International Women’s Day.
She met with President William Ruto, government leaders, businesswomen, and grassroots peacebuilders, discussing Kenya’s National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security.
The visit highlighted UK-Kenya cooperation on gender-inclusive development, conflict prevention, and addressing conflict-related sexual violence.
It also underscored efforts to strengthen trade and investment ties under their 2025–2030 strategic partnership, with Kenya recording a trade surplus with the UK in 2025.
The trip followed her secret visit to Somalia, where she supported survivors of gender-based violence.
