A Dublin musician got 18 months suspended prison for punching an 11-year-old boy on a train in 2024.
Bakuani Diasivi, a 26-year-old musician, was given an 18-month suspended prison sentence for punching an 11-year-old boy on a Dublin Dart train in July 2024.
The incident occurred between Sydney Parade and Lansdowne Road stations after a dispute between Diasivi’s partner and the boy’s older sister escalated into a physical altercation.
Diasivi, who was on bail for another offence and had 24 prior convictions for non-violent offences, admitted to striking the boy, claiming he believed the child had targeted his partner.
CCTV captured the buildup but not the punch.
He brought €1,000 to court as a gesture of remorse, which the family accepted.
Judge Orla Crowe described the case as unfortunate and granted Diasivi a final chance, imposing strict conditions and requiring a future review to determine if the sentence should be activated.
