Delhi approves ₹454 crore road project along Najafgarh Drain to ease traffic, cut emissions, and improve connectivity.
The Delhi government has approved a ₹453.95 crore project to build a 60.77 km road corridor along the Najafgarh Drain, aiming to reduce traffic congestion, improve connectivity between urban and rural areas, and cut travel time and emissions.
The project, set to begin construction in May 2026 and finish by November 2027, includes two-lane roads on the left bank from Jhatikra to Chhawla Bridge and dual-lane roads from Chhawla to Basaidarapur, linking major routes like the Outer Ring Road, UER-II, and IGI Airport.
It will feature pedestrian and cyclist paths, new bridges, street lighting, drainage, and landscaping.
The initiative, backed by technical and flood control committees, is expected to enhance regional transport efficiency and support sustainable development.
