Trump praised Ruskan’s “extraordinary heroism” during the large-scale rescue operation involving 12 helicopters from the Coast Guard, National Guard, and Army, and awarded him the Legion of Merit.
The emotional moment, which included the first reunion between Ruskan and McClymond, drew a standing ovation and highlighted the bravery of first responders in one of Texas’s worst natural disasters, which claimed nearly 140 lives.
