Bobby Douglas, the first Black American wrestler to compete in the Olympics and a Hall of Famer, has died at 83.
He represented the U.S. in the 1964 and 1968 Games, finishing fourth in 1964 and captaining the 1968 team.
A two-time world medalist, he later became a legendary coach, leading Iowa State from 1993 to 2006 with 198 dual wins, 10 NCAA titles, and 52 All-Americans.
He also won an NCAA title at Arizona State in 1988 and coached Olympic champion Cael Sanderson.
Douglas was honored with multiple hall of fame inductions and is remembered as a pioneering figure in American wrestling.
