An 71-year-old Singaporean woman says she was pressured into buying a $1,294.92 scalp treatment at a Clementi salon, prompting a police report and consumer complaint.
A 71-year-old Singaporean woman claims she was pressured into buying a $1,294.92 scalp treatment package at Salon One in Clementi during a routine haircut on January 3.
Her son, Leon, says a stylist used aggressive tactics after a scalp analysis, urging her to sign a document labeled for GST purposes without providing a copy.
The purchase was only discovered when reviewing her bank statement.
Leon filed a police report and complaint with the Consumers Association of Singapore (Case), which is now reviewing the case.
Salon One offered a refund, but the family is awaiting Case’s assessment.
Case noted the salon previously faced penalties for unfair practices and advises consumers to use CaseTrust-accredited businesses for added protection.
