Two Ghanaian medical staff suspended after patient died following delayed emergency care.
Two doctors and two nurses at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Ghana have been suspended following allegations they failed to provide emergency care to Charles Amissah, a 29-year-old engineer who died after a hit-and-run accident on February 6, 2026.
Amissah, stabilized by EMS at the scene, was reportedly turned away from three hospitals due to lack of bed availability before being taken to Korle Bu, where he went into cardiac arrest and died.
The hospital confirmed the suspensions on February 23 and established an investigation committee to review the incident, with findings expected by March 5.
The case has sparked public outrage and renewed calls for reform in Ghana’s emergency healthcare system.
