The Telangana government approved two major welfare schemes for 7.57 lakh employees and pensioners: a free accident insurance plan offering ₹1.2 crore for accidental death and ₹10 lakh for natural death before age 60, and a cashless health scheme covering 17.07 lakh people with treatment at government and 652 private hospitals.
The health scheme, funded by equal employee and government contributions totaling ₹1,056 crore annually, includes 1,998 procedures.
The state also restructured the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad into a government department to improve healthcare delivery and formed a committee to study hospital administrative reforms.
