Starting March 1, 2026, the UK’s Disabled Persons Railcard will expand eligibility to include more people with visible and non-visible disabilities, such as Blue Badge holders, those with disabled bus passes, individuals medically unable to drive, and people with speech impairments.
The railcard, costing £20 annually or £54 for three years, offers a 33% discount for the cardholder and one adult companion, saving an average of £126 per year.
The change follows a joint review by the Rail Delivery Group, Department for Transport, and Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee.
Further expansions, including conditions requiring professional health evidence, are planned for September 2026.
