South Carolina lawmakers propose allowing liquor stores to sell alcohol Sundays 1–5 p.m. and lowering bar insurance requirements.
South Carolina lawmakers are considering House Bill 4001, which would allow licensed liquor stores to sell alcohol from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays, a change from current law that restricts Sunday sales to bars and restaurants.
The bill, now in the Judiciary Committee, aims to increase consumer convenience and support retail businesses.
A separate measure would reduce liability insurance requirements for bars and restaurants from $1 million to as low as $250,000 if they close by midnight.
Both bills are under review, with final decisions pending.
