Shropshire Council is hosting “Steaming Down the Valley” on June 6, 2026, at Severn Valley Country Park, featuring a 5K and 10K trail run and a paddle sports race along the River Severn. Runners start at Country Park Halt with a steam train whistle, racing woodland and riverside trails, with the 10K looping back to chase the returning train. Paddlers begin at Miner’s Bridge, kayaking or stand-up paddling downstream to Arley footbridge. Limited entries—200 for the 10K, 100 each for the 5K and paddle—require trail shoes due to muddy, uneven terrain. Finishers receive medals and goody bags. Entry starts at £22, with food and drinks available at No. 92 Coffee Lounge. Early registration is encouraged.
