flag Rohde & Schwarz and Broadcom successfully tested Wi-Fi 8’s core features, paving the way for faster, more reliable connections in challenging environments.

Rohde & Schwarz and Broadcom have completed the first Wi-Fi 8 radio frequency signaling tests, validating early features of the upcoming IEEE 802.11bn standard. The tests, using Rohde & Schwarz’s CMX500 tester, focused on ultra-high reliability, demonstrating new physical layer advancements like distributed resource units and unequal modulation to improve performance in difficult environments. Wi-Fi 8 builds on Wi-Fi 7 with higher frequencies, wider channels, and advanced MIMO support, while introducing new testing demands. The CMX500 now supports Wi-Fi 8 testing alongside cellular and other wireless standards, and the system will be demonstrated at MWC Barcelona 2026.
