A Redbird Airways Beechcraft C90 air ambulance, VT-AJV, crashed in a remote forest in Jharkhand’s Chatra district on February 23, 2026, killing all seven people on board, including a burn patient being transferred from Ranchi to Delhi.
The aircraft, which took off at 7:11 p.m. IST, lost contact with Kolkata air traffic control 23 minutes later, about 100 nautical miles southeast of Varanasi, after requesting a weather-related deviation.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation confirmed the crash, and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau has launched an investigation, with preliminary reports pointing to adverse weather as a possible factor.
The wreckage was recovered later that night, but the black box’s recovery remains uncertain.
