Over 31,000 Kaiser Permanente workers in California and Hawaii ended a four-week strike after reaching a deal on wages and staffing.
More than 31,000 Kaiser Permanente health care workers in California and Hawaii have ended a four-week strike, returning to their jobs after negotiations yielded significant progress on wages and staffing, according to the United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals.
The walkout, involving nurses, pharmacists, midwives, and therapists, was driven by demands for a 25% pay increase over four years and better working conditions amid rising patient demand and inflation.
Kaiser offered a 21.5% raise, stating its employees earn 16% more on average than peers, while the union said pay lags behind.
Despite the strike, facilities remained open with adjusted appointments and rescheduled procedures.
A formal agreement is pending ratification, with no details released.
