Nigeria dropped forgery charges against lawyer Mike Ozekhome after UK tribunal found claim documents fraudulent.
The Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation has withdrawn a forgery charge against Mike Ozekhome, a senior advocate of Nigeria, in a Federal Capital Territory high court.
The case, originally filed by the ICPC, alleged Ozekhome used a forged Nigerian passport to claim ownership of a London property in 2021.
The AGF took over the case on January 26 and cited the need to review evidence across multiple agencies to strengthen prosecution.
On February 24, AGF counsel Rotimi Oyedepo moved to withdraw the charges, leading Judge Peter Kekemeke to strike out the suit.
The decision follows a UK tribunal’s finding that documents submitted by “Ms Tali Shani” were fraudulent and that the real claimant was Jeremiah Useni.
No further charges have been announced.
