Nigeria cancels 485 fraudulent land titles in Abuja amid reform efforts.
The Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has approved the cancellation of 485 land title applications in Abuja due to fraud and failure to pass verification checks.
The cancellations, affecting areas in Bwari, Abuja Municipal, and Kuje, were identified through a review by the FCTA’s Land Administration and AGIS departments.
The move targets forged documents, double allocations, and irregular grants, removing invalid titles from official databases.
It is part of broader reforms to improve land governance, transparency, and authenticity in the FCT, where all land remains under federal control.
The action follows a review showing only 3.2% of 261,914 submitted land documents from 2006 to 2023 had been verified.
