Inspired by the 1982 death of his friend Terrence Higgins, he helped establish the UK’s leading HIV and sexual health charity in 1982 and launched the nation’s first AIDS helpline from his home in 1983.
Over five decades, he championed HIV awareness, support, and LGBTQ+ rights, earning an OBE and other honors in 2022.
