A man in Australia was jailed for attacking another with a baton after a minor e-bike accident escalated, following prior vandalism.
A neighbor dispute in Fairy Meadow, NSW, turned violent in July 2024 when Joel Allan Perrine, 43, attacked a man with a baton after the man accidentally ran over Perrine’s remote-controlled car while riding an e-bike.
Perrine admitted to chasing the man, knocking him off his bike, and striking him twice in the head, causing shoulder and ankle injuries.
The incident followed an earlier confrontation on Anzac Day, when Perrine damaged the man’s car, costing $2,464.29 to repair.
Court documents and CCTV showed Perrine’s response was disproportionate.
Magistrate Michael Love called the violence “completely outrageous” but acknowledged provocation.
Perrine was sentenced to a community-based jail term on February 23, 2026, highlighting the consequences of escalating minor disputes.
