Louisiana’s governor seeks broader federal probe into DEI practices at all public colleges over civil rights concerns.
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry has asked the U.S. Department of Education to expand its civil rights investigation into diversity, equity, and inclusion practices at all public colleges and universities in the state.
The request follows an initial probe into the Louisiana Board of Regents, which is examining whether budget targets that prioritized students of races other than white and Asian violate Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Landry, who opposes what he calls “woke DEI policies,” said the expansion aims to ensure all public institutions comply with federal civil rights laws and to correct any potential violations.
