India raises jute MSP to Rs 5,925 for 2026-27, ensuring 61.8% return over costs.
The Indian government has raised the Minimum Support Price for raw jute (TD-3 grade) to Rs 5,925 per quintal for the 2026-27 season, a Rs 275 increase from the previous year.
The move ensures a 61.8% return over production costs and follows the policy of setting MSP at 1.5 times the cost of production.
Since 2014-15, the MSP has more than doubled, rising from Rs 2,400 to Rs 5,925.
The Jute Corporation of India will manage price support operations, with the central government covering any losses.
The government has paid Rs 1,342 crore in MSP to jute farmers since 2014-15, compared to Rs 441 crore in the prior decade.
