The Comptroller and Auditor General of India, K Sanjay Murthy, hosted a national power sector conference in New Delhi, unveiling a new audit framework to support India’s energy goals, including raising per-capita electricity use to 4,000 kWh by 2047 and achieving 50% non-fossil capacity five years early.
The event, attended by central and state officials, regulators, and power firms, emphasized using AI and big data analytics for more effective audits, highlighted progress in generation, renewables, and transmission, and announced audits on DISCOMs, solar schemes, and grid readiness.
A partnership with the Vasudha Foundation aims to strengthen audit capacity, while officials stressed the need for timely reforms, financial sustainability, and reliable power supply.
