India extends Ahmedabad’s metro by 3.33 km to GIFT City, adding three stations and boosting regional connectivity.
The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a ₹1,067.35 crore, 3.33-kilometer extension of Ahmedabad’s North-South Metro corridor from GIFT City to Shahpur, adding three elevated stations.
The four-year project, implemented by the central and Gujarat government joint venture GMRC, aims to boost connectivity between Ahmedabad and the GIFT City business hub, serving about 23,702 passengers daily by 2029 and up to 58,059 by 2041.
It is expected to generate around 1,000 construction jobs and 250 permanent roles, supporting commuters, businesses, and educational institutions in the region.
