India commissions indigenous ASW warship Anjadip in Chennai, boosting coastal defense and self-reliance.
The Indian Navy will commission the indigenous ASW-SWC vessel Anjadip into the Eastern Naval Command at Chennai Port on February 27, 2026.
Built by GRSE in Kolkata, the 77-meter warship is designed for anti-submarine operations in coastal waters, equipped with indigenous sonar, torpedoes, and rockets.
Named after Anjadip Island, it can reach 25 knots using water-jet propulsion and supports surveillance, rescue, and low-intensity maritime missions.
The commissioning marks progress in India’s defense self-reliance under the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiative.
