India approves ₹1,200 crore PPP plan to redevelop two New Delhi hotels for tourism and modernization.
The Indian government has approved a ₹1,200 crore public-private partnership plan to redevelop two historic New Delhi hotels, Hotel Ashok and Hotel Samrat, under the National Monetisation Pipeline 2.0.
Hotel Ashok, in Chanakyapuri, will receive ₹820 crore in private investment, with redevelopment set to begin in FY 2027.
Hotel Samrat, in central Delhi, will get ₹380 crore, with awards expected by FY 2030.
Both projects, managed by ITDC, will use direct contractual PPP models, with private partners financing, developing, and managing the assets under performance benchmarks.
The initiative aims to modernize underutilized government properties, boost tourism, and generate public sector value through private investment.
