Hāpai Te Hauora celebrates 30 years of advancing Māori health equity through culturally grounded leadership and national impact.
Hāpai Te Hauora, a Māori-led public health organization founded in 1996, is marking 30 years of advancing health equity through culturally grounded leadership. Originally established to address systemic gaps in Auckland, it has grown into a national force shaping policy and practice in areas like SUDI prevention, alcohol harm reduction, and Smokefree advocacy. Guided by kaupapa Māori principles, the organization strengthens the Māori public health workforce and empowers communities through accessible resources. The milestone was celebrated in Tāmaki Makaurau with leaders, whānau, and partners reflecting on progress and future goals rooted in Oranga Whenua and Oranga Tangata.
