Hawaii confirms second 2026 travel-related dengue case on Oahu; no local transmission.
The Hawaii Department of Health has confirmed a second travel-related dengue case in 2026, on Oahu, bringing the state’s total to two cases this year—both linked to travel in regions where dengue is common.
Neither case is believed to be locally acquired, as dengue is not endemic in Hawaii.
Officials are conducting mosquito inspections and control efforts in the affected area.
The DOH urges travelers returning from dengue-risk zones to avoid mosquito bites for three weeks and seek medical care if symptoms like fever, rash, or body aches appear within two weeks of return.
Residents are advised to eliminate standing water and use repellent to reduce mosquito breeding and bites.
Suspected cases should be reported to the DOH Disease Reporting Line at 808-586-4586.
