On February 20, 2026, Barcelona’s Sagrada Família completed its central tower with the installation of the upper arm of its four-armed cross, raising the structure to 172.5 meters—the tallest church in the world.
The final cross element, made in Germany and assembled on-site, features glass and ceramic panels and will emit light at night.
The completion marks the end of external construction, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of architect Antoni Gaudí’s death.
Interior work and a visitor platform are set to open in 2027, with full completion expected by 2028.
