Australia’s royal commission into antisemitism has begun public hearings, examining the roots and prevalence of antisemitism following the December 14, 2025, terrorist attack at a Bondi Beach Hanukkah event that killed 15 people.
Led by former High Court judge Virginia Bell, the inquiry is investigating systemic issues, intelligence failures, and the role of extremist ideologies in the attack.
It also aims to strengthen social cohesion and combat religious and ideological extremism.
The commission, established by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, will deliver an interim report by April 30, 2026, and a final report by December 14, 2026.
