The Arataki residential project in Havelock North, Hawke’s Bay, has received fast-track approval, enabling up to 200 homes on 11 hectares.
Submitted in July 2025 by CDL Land NZ Limited, the development is expected to generate $78 million in investment and create about 629 jobs over five years.
The project aims to address housing shortages in a region where house prices rose 134% and rents increased 86% over the past decade.
It marks the sixth fast-track housing approval and the eleventh overall under the Fast-track Approvals Act, with the approval process taking five months.
