The ADB approved $108M in financing for Aavas Financiers to expand affordable housing and MSME lending in India, with climate-resilient homes and support for women borrowers.
The Asian Development Bank has approved a $108 million senior secured debt package with India’s Aavas Financiers to expand affordable housing and MSME lending in underserved areas.
Up to $8 million in concessional funding comes from Canada’s CANPA trust fund, supporting climate-resilient, energy-efficient homes, with at least 70% of housing funds for lower-income borrowers and 50% of those loans to women.
The remaining 30% will boost MSME financing, especially for women entrepreneurs.
The deal includes $150,000 in technical assistance to strengthen green housing awareness and institutional capacity.
The initiative supports India’s Housing for All goal and builds on ADB’s prior collaboration with Aavas since 2020.
