A 47-year-old Indian man was convicted in Dublin for assaulting airport officers during a denied boarding attempt at Dublin Airport.
Shine Thomas, a 47-year-old Indian computer science graduate living in Ireland for 10 years, was found guilty at Dublin District Court on February 19 of assaulting a Dublin Airport police officer at the steps of a Ryanair aircraft.
The incident occurred during a family trip to London when Thomas, after being denied boarding, pushed an officer while attempting to board without permission and later struck another officer at a Garda station.
He denied the charges, claiming broken ribs without medical proof and disputing being asked for personal details, but the court heard CCTV footage showed his aggressive behavior.
Judge John Hughes condemned Thomas’s actions as “outrageous, wrong, and criminal,” especially given the presence of children, and postponed sentencing until May.
Conditions include a probation report, an anger-management course, and proof of job applications if he remains unemployed.
The conviction may affect his visa status.
