The Supreme Court refused to block Andhra Pradesh’s probe into the Tirupati laddu scandal, allowing a state committee to review administrative failures independently.
The Supreme Court on February 23, 2026, declined to intervene in Andhra Pradesh’s creation of a one-member committee to review administrative lapses in the Tirupati laddu adulteration case, stating the state’s inquiry operates separately from the Supreme Court-ordered Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe.
The SIT had concluded its investigation, finding ghee adulterated with vegetable oils and synthetic esters, but no animal fat, and filed a charge sheet.
The state committee, led by retired IAS officer Dinesh Kumar, will assess procedural failures at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam and report within 45 days.
The Enforcement Directorate is also probing alleged hawala-based bribes under the PMLA.
The court found no legal basis for interference, affirming the independence of both processes.
