Singapore will take legal action against any citizen fighting in foreign conflicts, including in Ukraine, Gaza, or with groups like ISIS, Home Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam said at the Religious Rehabilitation Group’s iftar on February 23, 2026.
He stressed that while Singapore provides humanitarian aid abroad, it prohibits its citizens from participating in overseas violence, citing past detentions under the Internal Security Act.
Shanmugam emphasized the crucial role of religious and community leaders in promoting interfaith dialogue, compassion, and youth outreach to counter extremism, especially amid online radicalization risks.
He highlighted the RRG’s rehabilitation efforts, including the Majulah Gallery and digital initiatives, as key to fostering national cohesion.
