Poland has detained a Belarusian man, Pavlov T., on suspicion of spying for Belarus’s military intelligence from June 2024 to February 2026, with alleged activities in Poland, Germany, and Lithuania.
Prosecutors say he gathered intelligence on critical infrastructure vital to Poland and NATO, possibly including defense sites.
The suspect, held for three months, faces a minimum five-year prison sentence if convicted.
The arrest, made with cooperation from German and Lithuanian intelligence, reflects heightened concerns over Russian and Belarusian efforts to undermine nations supporting Ukraine, a threat that has intensified since Russia’s 2022 invasion.
