A jury is deciding whether 77-year-old David Campbell murdered 65-year-old Brian Low in a 2024 ambush over a bird poisoning dispute.
A jury has begun deliberations in the trial of David Campbell, 77, an ex-head gamekeeper accused of murdering Brian Low, 65, on a rural lane near Aberfeldy on February 16, 2024.
Prosecutors allege Campbell, motivated by a longstanding grievance over claims Low framed him for poisoning birds of prey, shot Low in a premeditated ambush, citing CCTV footage of a hooded cyclist near the scene, disabled home CCTV, and Low’s severe shotgun wounds.
Campbell denies the charge, claiming he was at home and that the evidence is circumstantial.
Police initially classified the death as non-suspicious but reclassified it as murder five days later.
The trial, held at Glasgow’s High Court, now rests on whether the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that Campbell committed the murder.
