Indian Coast Guard seized 100,000 cigarette packs from Iranian vessel Al Mukhtar near Dwarka on Feb 21, 2026.
On February 21, 2026, the Indian Coast Guard intercepted the foreign vessel Al Mukhtar, 115 nautical miles west of Dwarka, seizing about 100,000 packs of foreign cigarettes valued at Rs 2.5 to 5 crore.
The vessel, crewed by four Iranian nationals, was taken into custody and escorted to Porbandar for investigation.
This follows a similar operation on February 17, when the Coast Guard, with Gujarat’s Anti-Terrorist Squad, stopped a foreign fishing boat near the maritime boundary, recovering 203 packets of suspected drugs.
Both incidents reflect intensified joint efforts to combat smuggling and strengthen coastal security.
